I saw my RE last week. I sat down with him to review the protocol he wants to use for the next try. It's quite a bit different. I will do the co-culture again, then start an estrogen patch with some ganilrex thrown in, then at the beginning of my next cycle start follistim and menopur. Then, a little more ganilrex right before trigger. After retrieval and transfer, assuming we get that far, I'd go back on the estrogen patch, along with the usual progesterone injections. No lupron at all, which is fine by me. I responded so poorly the last two times, this is not unexpected. I just hope the estrogen priming will help. If all goes according to plan, retrieval could be Thanksgiving Day, give or take a day. While this is kind of annoying, it's actually a good thing, as Hubby teaches every day and would have to cancel class for the retreival or leave early and then we'd have to get a friend to take me home. We both have the Friday of that weekend off.
Two days later, I got a call from the clinic finance person telling me that my request (at the suggestion of my RE) for a discount was granted! Yea!!! They are cutting us a serious break. My RE had said at our meeting that he would do everything possible to make this happen. So, after about two minutes of considering it, we are going ahead. It's still a lot of money, but a lot less than it could have been. I am happy and scared at the same time. If it fails, we will, as usual, be devestated. There's no way around that. But, if we didn't try, then we would always wonder. We're not interested in donor eggs. We'll move on to adoption if it doesn't work, and we'll do it with open eyes and hearts, but we're really, really hoping #3 works.
I got my period today, called the clinic to let them know. Now I monitor for my surge so they can do the co-culture 5-12 days later.
I'm back on the rollercoaster.
